PhD is said to stand for Permanent Head Damage. We look after the part before that.

Send fewer, better‑aimed emails. Be ready for the questions that follow.

A workspace for prospective PhD applicants: find supervisors from public research records, tailor your CV in three places, check every email before you send it from your own mailbox, and keep follow-ups on time.

Reads public records from

We are not affiliated with these projects. Each line on a record card links back to the source it came from.

How it works

Four steps

You write the sentences that matter. The check does not pass until those sentences are yours.

The jar character holding an envelope with a tick.
  1. Read the public record

Search by topic. The card lists recent works, funding words and formal notices. Each line has a source, a date and the original wording. No scores.

  2. Change three slots

One base CV. For a supervisor you change only a one-line interest, the order of experience, and five selected outputs.

  3. Trace every claim

A claim has to point at a fact of yours or at a cited paper. Names, the domain, the attachment and the pace are checked before you can copy the email.

  4. Send it yourself

We do not send. After a pass on the current text, you get the text, a mailto link and an .eml draft. Status comes from what you paste back.

Find supervisors by what they actually publish

Search a topic you can talk about for five minutes. Results are listed in the source's order of relevance; we do not rank people.

Public, Honest, Documented

Public records only. No scores.

The card is a record, not a rating

Every line has a source, a date and the original wording. A notice is a quote. It is not a mark against someone.

Polish, Hone, Double-check

Every claim is traced before you can copy the email

Names, the domain, the attachment, the pace and every claim are checked. A sentence with nothing behind it blocks the copy button until you add the fact or delete the sentence.

Patiently Hoping, Daily

Keep follow-ups on time, then stop

Status comes from what you paste back. A follow-up is suggested after 7 days and the suggestion is to stop after 14.

Example on this page

A claim without a source does not pass

This is an example on the page, not a check of your draft. Nothing here is sent.

Subject: Prospective PhD student — soil moisture

Dear Dr Example,

I read your 2024 paper on soil-moisture retrieval.

I built a Python pipeline that cleans three years of water-sensor data.

I led the field team.

I would like to ask whether you are taking a student.

Kind regards,
Mei

Blocked One sentence has nothing behind it. The copy button stays off until you add the fact or delete the sentence.

Questions

Do you send the email?

No. You send it from your own mailbox. After the check passes on the current text, you can copy it, open a mailto link, or download an .eml draft.

Will you write a thesis, a proposal, or an assignment?

No. We do not write or rewrite assessable work. The draft help is for outreach email and for three slots on a CV.

Can you advise on a visa?

We do not give visa or migration advice. For visa questions, use the OMARA register linked in the footer.

Do you score or rank supervisors?

No. A card quotes public records with the source, the date and the original wording.

Where do the records come from?

OpenAlex (CC0), Crossref and Semantic Scholar. Formal notices come through Crossref, including Retraction Watch. We do not scrape university websites for the card.

What does a pass mean?

The draft cleared the checks on that exact text. It does not mean anyone will reply, meet you, or admit you.

What am I paying?

One payment, in Australian dollars, GST included, with no automatic renewal. Quotas and the refund note are on the card.

Are you part of a university?

No. Independent service. Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for any university.

How long do you keep my files?

Uploaded originals are deleted 24 hours after processing. Other materials are deleted 90 days after a package ends. You can export or delete sooner in settings.

Is search free?

Search and eligibility cards are free. Adding a supervisor to the workspace needs a package.
